Therapy for Stress-Related Physical Symptoms in Florida
Physical symptoms can be frightening and exhausting, especially when they seem to worsen with stress or when medical tests have not provided a complete explanation. The symptoms are real. Therapy can help you understand how stress, emotion, and the nervous system may be interacting with your physical experience while respecting the role of appropriate medical care.

When Stress Shows Up in the Body
Stress-related physical symptoms do not look the same for everyone. They may come and go, move between different parts of the body, or become more noticeable during periods of pressure, conflict, uncertainty, or change.
Tension and Headaches
Muscle tightness, jaw clenching, pressure, or headaches that become more noticeable when you are overwhelmed.
Fatigue and Low Energy
Feeling drained, heavy, or physically depleted even when you are trying to rest.
Stomach and Digestive Discomfort
Nausea, stomach pain, or digestive changes that seem connected to stress or anxiety.
Sleep Disruption
Difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking without feeling restored.
Racing Heart or Shortness of Breath
Physical alarm responses that can feel sudden, intense, or difficult to understand.
Persistent Body Awareness
Monitoring sensations closely, worrying about what they mean, or feeling unable to stop checking how your body feels.
Your Symptoms Are Not “All in Your Head”
Emotions and physical health are not separate systems. Prolonged stress can affect muscle tension, sleep, energy, digestion, breathing, and the way the brain interprets physical sensations. Therapy does not assume that a symptom is psychological. We look carefully at the full pattern: what was happening when symptoms began, what makes them better or worse, how fear or frustration affects them, and how the symptoms have changed your daily life.
Understand the Pattern
Notice the stressors, emotions, body responses, checking, and avoidance that may interact with symptoms over time.
Reduce the Alarm Cycle
Develop practical ways to respond to sensations and uncertainty without automatically escalating fear, checking, or avoidance.
Rebuild Daily Life
Gradually return attention and energy to relationships, responsibilities, rest, and activities that symptoms may have disrupted.
How I Work With Mind-Body Symptoms
I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), together with optional somatic awareness. We may examine interpretations of physical sensations, patterns of checking or avoidance, emotional stressors, and the ways your body responds to pressure.
We can also explore experiences connected to safety, control, grief, relationships, or past stress. Some sessions are reflective. Others focus on concrete ways to respond to sensations, reduce reactivity, and return attention to the parts of life that matter.
The Goal
The goal is not to ignore your body or force symptoms away. It is to help you feel less controlled by the alarm around the symptoms, recover more effectively from stress, and respond to your body with greater clarity and confidence.
Therapy Works Alongside Medical Care
Physical symptoms can have many causes. New, changing, severe, or concerning symptoms should be evaluated by an appropriate medical professional. Therapy is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. With your written permission, I can coordinate with your medical or psychiatric provider when that would support your care.
Online Therapy for Adults and Teens Ages 13+
For Adults
Physical symptoms may become more noticeable alongside work pressure, relationship strain, caregiving, health concerns, or prolonged stress. Therapy can help you understand the pattern and respond with greater flexibility.
For Teens Ages 13+
For teens, stress may show up through headaches, stomach discomfort, fatigue, sleep problems, school avoidance, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed. Parent or guardian involvement is discussed based on age, needs, and privacy requirements.

Common Questions About Mind-Body Therapy
Are stress-related physical symptoms real?
Yes. Physical symptoms are real even when stress or emotion may contribute to how they begin, intensify, or persist. Therapy does not treat them as imagined.
Do I need a medical diagnosis before starting?
No. You do not need a specific diagnosis to reach out. Appropriate medical evaluation still matters, especially for new, changing, severe, or concerning symptoms.
What if my medical tests are normal?
Normal results do not mean symptoms are imaginary. Therapy can help explore how stress, fear, attention, checking, and avoidance may affect your experience and daily life while you continue appropriate medical care.
Is this the same as health anxiety?
Sometimes there is overlap, especially when fear and monitoring amplify physical sensations. Not everyone with stress-related symptoms has health anxiety, and treatment is tailored to your experience.
Do you accept insurance?
I currently accept Aetna, Florida Blue, and Cigna. Coverage varies by plan. Headway verifies your benefits and provides a cost estimate before your first session. Self-pay is also available.
Are sessions available in Spanish?
Yes. Online therapy is available in English or Spanish for clients who are physically located in Florida during the session.
